From the void, one could see that inside the building was a huge lift constructed from a steel frame, with a steel cable as thick as a baby’s arm dangling in the middle.
Wan Bajun introduced to Charlie wade, “Mr Wade, this is the main shaft of the underground fortification, its current vertical depth is around one hundred and twenty metres, the first phase of the underground fortification is currently being dug horizontally at this depth, this lifting device is the cage, the equipment, personnel and the excavated rocks basically all go in and out from here.”
As he said that, he pointed to another similar cube building in the distance and introduced, “That one is the secondary shaft of the underground fortification, the depth is the same as the main shaft, it mainly undertakes to ventilate all the underground working faces as well as drainage.”
Charlie wade nodded and spoke, “The current spy satellites and drones are too advanced, and the surface facilities can’t even escape Google’s satellites, so in the future the underground fortifications will be the top priority.”
Wan Bajun immediately said, “Don’t worry, Mr. Wade, more than 65% of the current infrastructure budget has been given to underground fortifications. In the future, the underground fortifications will not only be able to meet the living and storage of all personnel and materials, but also shoulder most of the daily training needs, and at the same time, we will establish a safe energy storage and backup energy system underground, which is sufficient to deal with most emergency situations.”
As he spoke, a large, square steel cage was lifted up by a lifting device underneath the cube.
Interestingly, the cage had two levels, the top level was occupied by people, while the bottom level held a railcar.
Once the cage had come to a standstill, the dozen or so men in helmets standing on the upper level stepped out of it and walked down the second flight of stairs to the first level.
The workers waiting on the first floor, however, went straight into the steel cage on the ground floor, fixed the haul rope to the ore car filled with rubble, and then hauled the car along the track towards the loading yard a few hundred metres away, while at the other end, the workers pushed an empty ore car into the cage.
The entire steel cage was then lowered back down into the ground.
Charlie wade watched the whole process and could not help but frown, “Broken Army, relying on this straight up and down cage to transport people and materials is too inefficient a turnaround, isn’t it? At most, a few dozen people or a few tons of cargo can be loaded and unloaded at a time, even if the trip takes a few minutes, in times of emergency this efficiency is still a drop in the bucket.”
Wan Bajun hurriedly said, “Mr. Wade you are right, at present these two shafts are actually the configuration for the construction stage, the underground fortifications are still only in the primary stage, so they are paired with these two shafts to carry out the underground construction;”
“However, the next step will be to build a hub building on the west side of the airport runway, covering an area of over 100,000 square metres, and then from the internal level of the hub building, a two-lane ramp shaft will be excavated directly for vehicle access;”
